Hearthstead at The Hive House, Wheat Ridge
Hearthstead is a home-based community just west of Denver where people come together to learn herbalism, food growing, and the traditional skills that once lived in every household. Through hands-on workshops, shared evenings around the table, and seasonal gatherings, we're remembering how to live in relationship with food, land, the seasons, and one another.
Ways We Gather
Workshops
Hands-on herbal making and craft sessions where you leave with something you made and the know-how to make it again.
Candlelight Cafe
An unhurried evening of tea, food, conversation, and the stories we carry, held around a shared table.
Rituals and Celebrations
Potlucks, crafts, and gatherings that mark the turning of the year together.
The Farm
A permaculture farm in progress at The Hive House, with a food forest, pollinator gardens, and an outdoor classroom on the way.
What We Hold To
Hearthstead is shaped by a handful of values that guide how we teach, how we gather, and how we care for the land. They show up in every class, every meal, and every seed we plant together.
Belonging
We restore connection where it has been fractured, between people and land, people and their food, and people and each other.
Stewardship
We hold ourselves accountable to what sustains us, from the soil under our feet to the community around our table.
Practice
We build capacity through embodied learning. Skills grow by doing them, again and again, with others.
Sovereignty
We believe in rooted autonomy that lives in mutual relationship: households that can feed and care for themselves and show up for their neighbors.
Humility
We keep learning from the land and from one another, and we honor the people and traditions who taught these skills first.
The Institute: Learning That Follows the Seasons
The Institute is Hearthstead's home for deeper, multi-week learning. Small cohorts gather over a season to build practical skills together, from community herbalism to food growing and permaculture. Our first cohort, Journey Through Tarot, begins in February 2027, with more courses coming soon.
